Toi Whakaari students hum with creative life.
Walking into our home – Te Whaea: National Dance and Drama Centre – is much like walking into a fireworks display, full of light, sound, action and excitement. Our students are constantly on the go and every aspect of the building is used as an artistic space.
Check out the progress of our actors, catch the latest performance innovation or watch for the gorgeous sets, lighting and costumes. Whatever your taste in theatre you will find something for your palate amongst the shows at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School. Whatever your tastes you are bound to find something to satisfy your palate at Toi Whakaari.
Our ticket prices range between $5 and $25 to fit well within most budgets and as the purpose of our productions is to utilise our students’ talents to their extreme, you will see shows rarely produced by professional companies.
We are always happy to tour groups around the School. Catering for your needs and tastes is easy with the wide variety of classes, rehearsals and performances occurring at Toi Whakaari. If you would like to visit please ensure you contact us with at least a fortnight’s warning.
Toi Whakaari is forging the future of theatre and film in Aotearoa. If you want to be a part of it – come and have a look.
What are Our Grads Doing?
Once our students graduate, they disperse far and wide to a multiplicity of work – from acting in Hollywood feature films to being the entertainment director on a cruise liner in the Caribbean, from managing The Edge in Auckland to making models for WETA workshop, from presenting Mai Time to designing costumes at Downstage.Print this page
