Nollar Millar Library
The Nola Millar Library is the Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School library and is named after the school’s first director. It also provides services to the New Zealand School of Dance.
The library collects theatre, dance and performing arts books, published plays and screenplays, periodicals, and audio-visual material. It primarily serves staff and students, but extends services to members of the performing arts community on a subscription basis.
Resources
The Nola Millar Library has over 10,300 plays. There are also nearly 12,500 books, periodicals and audio-visual resources, (including subjects such as costume, scenography, stage crafts, directing, voice, movement, choreography, theatre & dance history, theatre & dance biographies, etc.).
Services
The services offered to staff and students include lending, interloan, reference and enquiry, listening and viewing facilities, booklists, computer and internet access and the teaching of research skills. For information about services to subscription members, click here.
The catalogue is updated daily. There are links to lists of new resources on the catalogue’s main menu screen, and monthly lists in pdf form are posted here regularly.
There are two full-time librarians and one part time library assistant:

Opening Hours
The core opening hours are from 10am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.
There are some variations to these hours during the School terms:
- The library opens at 9.30am on Mondays (Toi Whakaari terms only) and on Fridays (Toi Whakaari terms 1 & 4 only)
- The library is open until 8pm on Mondays
The library is closed at weekends, on public holidays and for several weeks over Christmas and New Year. Core opening hours may also be slightly reduced during term breaks.
