Henry 6

50 years of treason, murder, conspiracy and war dark and bloody are the focus of Shakespeare’s Henry 6 trilogy of plays.

Director David O’Donnell has edited the life and death struggles of the aristocrats in the brutal Wars of the Roses into a three hour domestic epic, bringing to life dozens of unforgettable characters including the boy king Henry, his Queen - Margaret of Anjou, Joan of Arc, Richard Plantagenet and his evil son (later King Richard III).

This Henry 6 will be a contemporary production, remaining true to the spirit of the plays and highlighting the relevance of Shakespeare’s themes to current global conflicts. O'Donnell has compressed the epic into a manageable performance that enlivens the history and gives great life to Shakespeare’s words and themes.

This is a unique opportunity to see a rarely performed cycle of Shakespeare’s history plays brought to life by a young, dynamic cast in a fresh and stylish production.

Antonia Bale and Bryon Coll as Queen Margaret and King Henry VI

"Oh what a scandal it is to our crown,
That two such noble peers as ye should jar!
Believe me, lords, my tender years can tell
Civil dissension is a viperous worm
That knaws the bowels of the commonwealth."

Henry VI, Part I, Act III, Scene i
