A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Mid-Winter Midsummer

Come into an erotic underworld of circus and wantonness where the boundaries between reality and imagination merge into an arena you might not have expected...

Second year actors and fourth year designers collaborate with costume and technical students to create a spectacular performance that explores the darkness and the deep urges at the heart of this play.

We welcome one of the UK’s leading Afro-Caribbean theatre practitioners, actress and director Josette Bushell-Mingo (OBE) fresh from the RSC to direct Shakespeare’s tale of love, magic and perception.

Known for her work championing black artists in the UK, as well as for her work playing a leading role in the West End production of The Lion King, Josette is an Olivier Award nominee and RSC director. She has now come to New Zealand to work with our next generation of theatre makers on this exciting production.

Josette's visit to New Zealand was made possible by a generous grant from Wellington City Council.

"I suppose I was expecting something very experimental and a bit hit and miss.

Well all I can say is that I was enthralled and really enjoyed the whole production.

Well done
