Rachel Conley will be missedView Gallery
The School is in mourning for a member of the Te Whaea Staff who died in the Christchurch earthquake. Rachel Conley was with us throughout 2010 and left only two weeks ago. She had an enormous impact on the Schools in her short time, being such a shining, effective and likeable person and we were all sorry that she had to return to the US. Her death weighs heavily on us all. Many of you knew her – she was so much the face of the School and of Te Whaea. She will be greatly missed.
Auē! Auē! Auē taukiri ē!
Kua hinga tetahi tamahine o Te Whaea o Toi Whakaari hoki.
Ko teetahi, i manaki ki a maatou katoa, i raro i te whare nei.
No reira ka tuku aroho maatou ki a koe a Rachel i runga i tou haerenga kei tua o te arai o a tatou ariki, moe mai, moe mai, moe mai.
Nau te manaki, naau te maramatanga nau te ngawiritanga me te ora tonu.
Ka tino pouri aa maua ngakau, ka hinga aa maua roimata.
A tragedy!
One of the daughters of our whare and our school has fallen
One who cared so beautifully for all of us here
We send our love to you Rachel as you pass on from this mortal world and into the next
Our hearts are so sad and our tears fall
But go, go and rest now, close to your ancestors
Our thoughts are with your family especially
