PRODUCTIONS

Toi Whakaari presents a wide variety of shows throughout the year, from classical theatre to brand new devised work, spectacular showcases to original New Zealand film – all tutored by the best in the business. Our courses are strongly practical and we place the most emphasis on good process, to help students realise their full potential. You will see students displaying this in all aspects of our productions, from lighting to costume, set design to voice work, as well as the acting on stage.

WORKSHOPS

Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School has an Open Programme that provides professional industry level and community level workshops throughout the year, across all levels of the performing arts. See Study at Toi Whakaari/Short Courses for more info.

SHOWCASES

In addition to producing a wide variety of theatre shows and films, Toi Whakaari hosts a number of other events to showcase the high calibre of work produced by our students:

Costume Showcase - the spectacular annual design/costume extravanganza, showcasing highlights from productions over the year and the major graduating projects of our final-year costumiers. Click here for a review of Costume Showcase 2011 on Thread.

The annual Design Exhibition, In Collaboration: a free exhibition of the highlights of the graduating designers, directors, technicians and managers, hosted in the Design Wing.

TOI FILM

Our actors, designers, techs, managers, costumiers and directors all get the opportunity to train for screen work and make their own films, whether at The Film School or whether with fully professional crews.
