STUDENT-LED PRODUCTIONS
Our directing students present a variety of work right on the cutting edge of performance in Aotearoa.
Coming up:
That’s So Gay
Thu 26 – Sat 28 April
Directed by Toni Regan
A collaborative community theatre project with School’s Out, Wellington, sharing their experiences with the local Wellington community and reflecting their own stories back to them as queer, gay, lesbian, bisexual and same-sex-attracted youth.
The devising process for That’s So Gay is being modelled on “moment work”, the process used by director Moises Kaufman in his theatre work The Laramie Project – a true story that was later made into a film. Stories that will inspire you, move you and make you laugh.

Skellig
by David Almond
Tue 14 – Sat 18 August
Directed by Tabitha Arthur
Michael discovers a dying tramp in his family’s garden shed, and becomes determined to save him. But when Michael discovers wings beneath the tramp’s tatty clothes, the real journey begins.
Skellig is an eerie and magical tale that will get under your skin. Originally a novel which snatched the Whitbread Children’s Book Award from Harry Potter, author David Almond adapted it into a play which The Guardian said “makes you see the extraordinary in the everyday and the turbulent intensity of childhood”.
The Pilot
Fri 28 September
Ax Trivia
The pilot for a television series in which we follow five unconnected young people through time spent studying and working: waiting until life decides where they are going. What will happen as their paths intersect, and where might their journey ultimately lead?
Ax Trivia is a student collective from many disciplines, creatively directed by designers Helen Stanbridge and Ruby Fitzgerald. Working together they will devise, develop and create this first episode with a focus on bringing integral storytelling and cinematic qualities into the medium of television.
