Costume Showcase 2011

This alluring annual event showcases our graduating costumiers’ major works alongside other exciting projects including millinery, corsetry, masks and a variety of costumes from recent Toi Whakaari productions, including Sketch for the NZ School of Dance, the Jacobean frills of The Roaring Girl given a 21^st century twist, and the eight fantastical graduation designs – which range this year from The Spiderwick Chronicles, to costumes inspired by pre-Raphaelite painting and the Ballets Russes.

Portraits of Toi Whakaari alumni by Stephen A’Court

A series of intimate portraits, exhibited throughout Wellington, of Toi Whakaari alumni who have shaped the recent history of stage and screen in New Zealand and beyond. This exhibition celebrates not only A’Court’s art, but also gives a rare insight into the students who have graduated from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama school over the past four decades – now some of NZ’s most celebrated personalities, photographed in locations important to each.
