Fees & Scholarships

All fees and associated costs must be paid in full before the first day of the first term. Fees are made up of:

Tuition fees (and course related costs, if applicable)
Compulsory Student Services Fee (CSSF)
Equipment Bond (refundable at the end of the year)*

Tuition fees (domestic students only) for 2023 are :

Acting NZ$7,608 
Design for Stage & Screen NZ$7,608
Arts Management NZ$7,608 
Costume Construction NZ$8,262
Set & Props NZ$8,262

Costume Construction and Set & Props also have a compulsory course cost element of $500.

The CSSF includes things like:

ID and access card
Health services (through
Massey Health)
Internet access and free local telephone
Student Common Room facilities (computers, printers, kitchen, tea, coffee, milk etc.)
Advocacy, on-site counselling and pastoral care
Recreational, cultural, sport (contact Registrar for details) and other extracurricular activities, services and support

Costume Construction and Set & Props also had a compulsory course cost element of $500.

The CSSF in 2022 ranged from NZ$160-$340 per EFTS (Equivalent Full-Time Student). The amount depends on your year of study and your domestic/international student status. You can read our CSSF report for 2022 HERE

The student representatives will be consulted annually about any proposed increase in tuition fees and in the setting of the CSSF level and associated services for the following year. They will work with relevant staff to bring this forward to be discussed at Hui-ā-Kura with the whole student body before it is finalised. Any student’s questions about the CSSF should be directed to one of the student reps, in the first instance, or to the School Registrar.

*The Equipment Bond of NZ$200 will be refunded at the end of the academic year as long as the student has not incurred any cost to the school through the damage or loss of equipment that has been loaned to them.

Toi Whakaari does not currently offer any scholarships for International Students.
